This is an amazing coin. Fully struck from fresh and highly polished dies; its legends and devices are distinctly frosted and contrast quite sharply with its brilliant fields. This coin exhibits all the characteristics of a proof, however, there is no record of any proof strikes of this date from this mint.
A soft patina (coloration) of gold and pewter gray enrich both sides of this incredible coin. Its surfaces are far cleaner than those associated with mint state strikes, which further reinforces its special status.
