1873p Coronet Head Eagle, With Motto  (1866-1907)

NGC PR65cameo

Finest Known

$75,000.00

As difficult as it is to imagine today, the U.S. Mint produced just 25 proofs of the 1873 Eagle!

This figure emphasizes just how much money ten dollars represented at that time.  In his landmark study of this series, David Akers estimated that only seven or eight survive today in all grades, and he described the 1873p as "one of the five or six rarest dates in the series."

This fabulous specimen is the finest of only seven certified by NGC.  It is well struck overall and displays no contact marks whatsoever.  A cameo gem, its frosted devices contrast with its glassy, reflective fields.  For the connoisseur of rarities, this coin represents on of the rarest of the rare.
