1796p Draped Bust Liberty, Small Eagle Dime  (1796-1807)

NGC MS66

1 of 8 known

$65,000.00

Any early United States coin grading MS66 is a rarity, period!  This superb dime is clearly among the finest known of both its date and type.  We know of a toned specimen that we sold some years ago that is clearly the finest of all of the 1796's, but this coin is a close second.

Fully struck in every fine detail, the coin invites close inspection with a glass to make out all the engraver's work.  This specimen was struck from dies having light cracks and clashmarks, and a cud die break is evident near the first star.

Entirely untoned, this marvelous dime is fully lustrous with a touch of prooflike reflectivity.

A remarkable early date numismatic wonder.
